The Eastern Townships region has welcomed tourists for more than 150 years and has earned an outstanding reputation for the quality of its welcome and facilities. You’ll find charming inns nestled in the heart of picturesque villages or settled along lakeshores. In the Townships, nature is everywhere and our idyllic landscapes have a calming effect on city-dwellers who seek to escape the clamour of urban life. The region’s past is unique in Quebec and still ever-present in its architecture and Victorian villages.
To discover the region, visitors can choose one of three tourist routes, each with its own unique theme. Explore the birthplace of winemaking in Quebec along the Wine Route as you travel through 18 vineyards, the Townships Trail will introduce you to the Anglo-Saxon heritage of the region, while the Summit Drive offers outdoor activities amid breathtaking scenery.
There’s no shortage of places to “savour” the region, be it at one of 10 “Cafés de village” or at a friendly restaurant or fine-dining establishment. You’ll find menus highlighting local products and countless shops to stock up before heading back home.
Sports enthusiasts have lots to choose from, with four provincial parks, four downhill ski centres, trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing, more than 500 km of cycling trails, over 30 golf clubs and numerous lakes for enjoying nautical activities.
Are you worn out? The region’s spas will get you back on your feet, whether you choose a Nordic, hotel or destination spa. Expert hands are just waiting to loosen those stress-related knots!
The Eastern Townships features four Hôtellerie Champêtre establishments that are an outstanding reflection of the region.
