Marie-Josée Lacombe, the cream of Québec Resorts’ crop of fine pastry makers, is named national pastry chef of the year for 2004, while counterpart Bernard Gill receives the MERITAS award.

Marie-Josée Lacombe of Hôtel la Sapinière, in Val-David, received the honorary title of 2004 Pastry Chef of the Year at the annual gala hosted by the president of the Société des chefs, cuisiniers et pâtissiers du Québec (SCCPQ). The event took place on May 23, 2004, at the Centre des Congrés Tremblant.

Each year, the SCCPQ joins the APAQ (Association des pâtissiers artisans du Québec) in awarding the pastry chef of the year distinction to an individual that has made his or her mark in the industry, while also advancing the discipline of pastry making. The three finalists are selected by a committee comprised of former pastry chefs of the year. The shortlist is accompanied by brief presentations, and is then submitted to a universal vote by the members of honor and professionals of both organizing associations and the committee of former pastry chefs of the year.

During the same evening, another member of Québec Resorts & Country Inns, Bernard Gill (Auberge Godefroy, Bécancour), received the Prix MÉRITAS. This award pays tribute to a member of the SCCPQ who has distinguished himself within the association. Dedication, friendliness and a positive attitude form the key selection criteria. The winner is recognized for having devoted his efforts to promoting the work of the SCCPQ and contributing to its development. Québec Resorts is proud to be part of its members’ success and shares in their joy.

For over 10 years, Québec Resorts has been home to inns and hotels from all over Québec -- 22 establishments selected according to the same high standards of comfort and quality. Québec Resorts is now considered a vacationing authority in the province, which speaks volumes about the brand of excellence guests can expect all across their network.

Naturally INNviting!
