Montréal, Québec — December 2, 2004 —The chefs, sommeliers and headwaiters of the Québec Resorts & Country Inns establishments held their very first conference November 14 to 16. Members of these three central restaurant professions assembled under one roof to share their experiences, which often overlap even if the positions cater to different functions.
The Québec Resorts membership was represented by 26 people. The conference took place at Auberge Godefroy, in Bécancour, in the Centre-du-Québec region. The objectives for this inaugural conference were to have the participants exchange ideas, to inform them on the network's purpose and to begin the process of solutioning the individual problems they experience. These objectives are rooted in the network's long-term strategy aimed at maintaining Québec Resorts' standing as a leading provider of fine cuisine in Québec. Each objective was achieved with flying colors.
The need for such an event manifested itself in the opening minutes of the conference, and simply grew from there. The conference also served to confirm the similarities between the respective dining rooms - a factor certainly influenced by the relatively comparable size of the establishments and their distance from major urban centers.
During the conference, the chefs, sommeliers and headwaiters attended a training seminar presented by Vincor International, the fourth largest producer and marketer of wine and related products in North America, and a partner of Québec Resorts as of 2004. The participants also attended a presentation on training and managing staff, and took part in networking and team-building workshops.
The first conference for chefs, sommeliers and headwaiters in the history of Québec Resorts proved a rousing success, likely setting the stage for subsequent and equally fruitful meetings. It is an initiative that typically reflects the network's strategic plan, which is to ensure the superior quality level of services provided by its members and to position itself as a leading network of vacationing resorts and inns in Québec.
For nearly 15 years, Québec Resorts has been home to inns and hotels from all over Québec -- 22 establishments selected according to the same high standards of comfort and quality. Québec Resorts is now considered a vacationing authority in the province, which speaks volumes about the brand of excellence guests can expect all across their network.
