The establishments belonging to the Québec Resorts network are donating over $10,000 to help victims of the tsunamis that ravaged Southeast Asia. At the request of the establishments' employees, the network's executive board started a fundraising initiative that saw the owners of the resorts and country inns match the donations made by their staff members. The funds are being donated to the Red Cross and World Vision on Monday, January 10, and will be doubled under the Canadian government's offer to double donations to the tsunami relief effort. “This means that, in the end, every $1 contributed by our establishments' employees will actually generate $4 for the victims of this terrible tragedy,” explains Claude Dufour, head of the Québec Resorts network.
The aftermath of the tsunamis has touched everyone who participated in this fundraiser. As members of the tourism industry, working in establishments of leisure and comfort, all are saddened by the devastating homelessness and shortage of food.
The Québec Resorts network is proud of the manner in which its group of employees mobilized to help the tsunami victims.
