Two More Awards for one of Québec Resorts and Country Inns' Prized Hotels -
Le Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant
Mont-Tremblant, Québec - May 2008 - Québec Resorts and Country Inns (QRCI) is pleased to announce that multiple award-winning member hotel Le Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant, more specifically its restaurant Chez Borivage, was honoured with two top prizes by the Ministry of Tourism at their annual Grands Prix du tourisme du Québec Gala event.
Nominated in two categories; Steven Lortie, Maître D' for Supervisor of the Year and David Ouellet, Sous chef for Tourist Relief of the Year, both took first prize ahead of over 25 seasoned competitors, both categories combined.
Winners are chosen according to individual accomplishments and contributions made not only to their respective establishments but also to the regional and national hospitality and tourism industries.
Sous-chef David Ouellet who was recently awarded with a perfect score by QRCI for his Marinated Sea Scallops with Bell Pepper Coulis and Mango Dressing, has traveled extensively perfecting his skills and gathering techniques used in some of the most prestigious restaurants of Europe. Well known and highly respected by the best farmers and fresh market producers, David's respect for the finest of ingredients comes alive in all his creations.
Steven Lortie's quick ascension as Maître D', the youngest ever to hold the position at Chez Borivage, is paralleled by his contagious passion for wines which brought him to create various types of wine lists to please all levels of wine connoisseurs from the neophyte to the finer wine palates. But it is often in the unexpected where people shine, as did Steven, a trained volunteer with the Fire department when a false alarm set panic among the hotel guests. He managed single-handedly to immediately take charge of the situation, restoring the calm and dispelling any fears; guests continue to praise his actions of that day.
“I couldn't be prouder of Steven and David,” explains Michel Garnier, General Manager of Le Grand Lodge. “I watch them every day, genuinely passionate about serving our guests, always bringing forth new ideas, motivating their teams. They remind me of why I was drawn to this industry in the first place many years ago.”
“The Grand Lodge is a dedicated group of individuals at every level of the organisation. It is truly an honour for me to be part of it. I invite people to come and discover why we continue to have one of the highest overall customer return rates,” continues Mr. Garnier.
